Sera sat in a chipped and dusty wooden chair on the walkway, staring out into the raging dust storm, and only partially shielded from the sand. Occasionally she'd shift uncomfortably in the hard chair, though she wasn't particularly aware that she was doing it. Her mind was lost scanning the immediate vicinity for any aberrant energy fields, but all she could feel were the calming waves of the protective field encircling the city. I stood staring out over the balcony, reminiscing of those days of little responsibility. I absently rubbed the stone balustrade. I'd never felt so anxious.
